Memoirs of Bangkok: The Mundain Top Ten

Top 10 Mundain memories of Bangkok, in no particular order:

1. Being scammed by a tuk tuk driver (gotta stop wearing camera
    around my neck)

2. Drenchings by total strangers (normal during Water Festival)...
     friendly, fun-loving Thais

3. Unable to obtain Myanmar visa because embassy in Bangkok
closed for a week during the Thai New Year (oh well, next year)

4. Scorching heat and suffocating humidity (Mundain literally had
to peel off clothing drenched in perspiration...not a pretty sight)

5. Traffic, traffic, and more traffic (seems like 24 hours a day)

6. The astonishing number of foreign, middle aged and senior
citizen men accompanied by young Thai females and males.

7. Pretty Thai girls with adam's apples and deep voices.

8. Super, modern, mega malls and humble street vendors on the
    same block.

9. Tourist attractions Chatuchak Market, Floating Market, Rose
Garden, Praya Princess Riverboat tour, Chinatown.

10. Food (available everywhere, anytime, any style, any
budget...and yes it's true, we had 10 Bowls of different types of
noodles in one sitting...we could have enjoyed another 10 Bowls
but decided limit our snack to 10 in order not to spoil our
      appetite for dinner).

...street vendors roasting chestnuts...

...hordes of flies descending on unrefrigerated fish for sale...

...riverside offering altar...

Muay Thai boxing demonstration

...typical food court lunch, roast pork, greens, boiled egg and condiments

Victory Monument, Bangkok

assorted noodles at the Victory Monument  Metro station

...literally mountains of noodles

...food court pastries

...baked goods

Praya Princess evening river boat dinner cruise

light Bangkok traffic

Upscale shopping

...huge, architecturally stunning malls

...endless miles of shopping

every designer under the sun is available...

uber cool mall furniture, for guys to rest their weary legs

more high end shopping

...same old shops, multiple locations...
For whatever reason, the shopping, which is considered fabulous
does nothing for me. But the hunt for new dining adventures...that's a different story...

The following meal was memorable, mostly due to the sheer volume consumed...

discovered this yummy Thai noodle house...
finished 4 bowls in no time flat

still a bit hungry so decided to order a little more

6 more to be exact, 10 Bowls in total for $3USD!!

now that...

hit the spot! ... ALMOST!

'cause I left a bit of room for dessert...
Thai "sliced" ice cream topped with fruit & condensed milk

Kiwi chunks and longnan, smothered in condensed milk,
all topping "sliced" coconut ice cream

now that was just what I needed ...
to end the Bangkok leg of our journey on a sweet note;
despite Mr. Lao and James Tailor.
