Bali...doing nothing or nuthin' doin'?

Weeks of constant travel and touring made us yearn for a few days of doing nothing. Let me clarify:

there is a HUGE difference between
                                              "doing nothing"
                                                       and
                                          "not doing anything".

"Doing nothing" is chosen action through free will, extremely satisfying, relaxing, and is truly MUNDAIN.

"Not doing anything" is meaningless existence, frustrating, boring and truly MUNDANE.

Our mission in Bali was to eat, drink, relax then eat some more and to do it in style. We accomplished our objective with flying colours.

We found our haven in the busy part of Seminyak...
an oasis of calm amidst the bustling streetscape

...Water...there's something about water
that innately forces us to relax
...whether it's lounging poolside

or listening to the soothing sound of water gently cascading...

or the playful splashing of synchronized
dancing columns of water spewed by fountains

...or the hypnotic serenity and tranquility of Koi
silently gliding through crystal clear pools of WATER

...that peacefulness is delightfully shattered...
only when you want it to be....
by bright lights, shopping, restaurants, and
the incessant din of motorbike traffic that is Bali after dark...

Mr. Mundain prepping appetite at the Cafe Seminyak

...with my willing accomplice

...enjoying pre-dinner mocktails of lime squash

...followed by Mie Goreng with egg and shrimp cracker

...a simple noodle dish with layers of flavor

next...Gadu Salad

...smothered in a delicious sauce and
garnished with chili

with accompaniments:
quartered egg, tempeh (fermented soybean cake), prawn chips

Nasi Campur, hidden by the huge shrimp chip
is the Nasi and most of the Beef Rendang

chicken Satay drenched in savoury peanut based sauce

served with marinated veggies

Nasi Campur-chicken, coconut rice, egg with Sambal,
Beef Rendang, served with fresh cuke and marinated vegetables

...more skewers of succulent chicken grilled golden brown
on the outside, moist and juicy inside...

note dried anchovies atop the coconut rice...
the Nasi Campur was simply delicious, especially the Beef Rendang

...it was a long day as travel days usually are...
the shimmering lights of the haven beckoned and
promised comfy beds and fluffy pillows...
